You need three key measurements, taken snug-but-not-tight with a soft tape parallel to the floor:

• Bust: around the fullest part of your chest.
• Waist: at the narrowest point, usually just above the belly button.
• Hips: at the widest point of your hips.

Compare against the size chart listed on every Aurora Lolita product page. If you fall between sizes we recommend sizing up on JSK and OP dresses so the shirring or lacing gives you comfortable tea-party room.

Aurora Lolita sizing is drafted in our Brooklyn creative studio using US/EU body blocks, then refined by our Harajuku atelier. In practice this means our M fits closer to a US M than a Japanese M. Always consult the centimetre measurements on each product page rather than the letter size alone.

Yes. Our signature JSK and OP silhouettes are drafted XS through 5XL. About 70% of our styles feature shirring or lace-up panels at the back, adding another 20-30cm of bust or waist stretch. The exact stretch range is listed under “Sizing Notes” on every product page.

Shirring is a grid of decorative elastic stitched onto the back of a JSK or OP, allowing the dress to stretch across multiple body shapes. A full-back shirred JSK can typically fit three adjacent sizes, making it a wardrobe-friendly pick if you’re between sizes or simply want comfort at long tea parties.

Our shoes are offered in US 5 through US 12 (EU 35-44) depending on the style. Aurora Lolita shoes run true to size but we always recommend checking the insole length in cm on the product page, especially for mary-janes and tea-party platforms.

Eligible in-stock items can be returned within 14 days of delivery, unworn, unwashed and with all original tags, ribbons and tissue paper intact. Innerwear, worn petticoats, wigs, false lashes, hair pieces, pre-order and custom-made items are final sale.

Because inventory moves quickly, we handle exchanges in two clean steps: place a fresh order for the size/variant you want, then return the original item following the Returns process. Once the return clears inspection we refund the original order in full.

We are so sorry! Please contact [email protected] within 7 days of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the package, the defect and the shipping label. For a confirmed quality issue or our error, we’ll arrange a replacement, repair or full refund and cover the approved return shipping.

Our mistake / defect: Aurora Lolita covers return shipping via a pre-paid label or receipt reimbursement.

We recommend gentle hand-washing in cold water with a pH-neutral or baby-shampoo-based detergent. Never wring — press water out with a towel. Lay flat on a dry towel to air-dry, away from direct sunlight to protect prints.

Iron on the lowest silk setting with the dress inside-out. For heavily trimmed Gothic or Classic pieces with velvet and metal hardware, professional dry cleaning is the safest option.

Yes — most organza and tulle petticoats survive a mesh wash bag on cold delicates, just skip the dryer. After washing, gently fluff the layers and let them air-dry over a chair back so the shape holds. Cupcake-style petticoats with hard tulle edges should be hand-rinsed only.

Use padded satin hangers, zip dresses into breathable cotton garment bags (never plastic — it traps moisture), and store in a dry closet away from direct light. For heavier JSKs and coord sets with beading, fold along existing seam lines with acid-free tissue paper and lay flat in a drawer.

Iron lace through a clean cotton press cloth on the lowest heat setting. Never touch a hot iron directly to velvet — it leaves permanent shine marks. Instead, steam velvet from the wrong side at arm’s length, then brush the nap back into place with a soft garment brush.

Yes — a petticoat is what gives a Lolita dress its signature bell-shaped silhouette. Without one the skirt falls flat and loses its magic.

Pre-orders are made-to-order pieces produced after the pre-order window closes, typically shipping 45-75 days from order date. They allow us to offer elaborate original prints and limited-run fabrics with zero waste. Pre-orders are final sale once production begins.

Yes, on selected Classic and Hime silhouettes we offer full made-to-measure with your individual bust, waist, hip and height for a fee starting at $45 USD. Production takes 60-90 days. Email [email protected] with the product link and we’ll send a measurement guide.

Yes - by default your entire order ships together when the pre-order piece is ready. If you’d prefer the in-stock item to ship first, mention it in the order notes at checkout and we’ll split the shipment at no extra cost when your order qualifies for the regional free-shipping threshold.
